What's More Important than Christmas in Puerto Rico?
There is nothing truly like celebrating the holiday season in the islands. One of the most important holidays for Puerto Ricans in December is Christmas but following that is Three Kings Day. Other cultures and countries often overlook Three Kings Day, but here in Puerto Rico, it has become almost more important than Christmas itself. This holiday falls on January 6th every year and is the celebration of the three kings that came to visit baby Jesus after his birth. Many little kids believe that if they fill up shoeboxes with grass for the camels to eat that the shoebox will be filled with sweets and gifts when they wake in the morning. So don’t be surprised if locals are still celebrating the holidays until the first week of January—it is just a little tradition!
