Puerto Rico takes holy week seriously. Most things will be closed on Good Friday, April 14, and on Easter Sunday, April 16. However certain tourist attractions will be open such as El Yunque National Forest and the forts of Old San Juan.
PASSION PLAY ON GOOD FRIDAY, APRIL 14 at 3PM
In Old San Juan, you can catch a reenactment of the Passion of Christ at the cathedral. The play usually depicts the last supper, his trial, and then is acted out through the streets of town. If you are feeling it, try to catch the play, if not, be aware incase you see it.
FREE ADMISSION TO FORTS, APRIL 15, 16, 22, & 23
This is exciting news! For National Park week, El Morro and San Cristobal Forts in Old San Juan will be free to visit.
BATTLE OF 1797 REENACTMENT, APRIL 27 to 30
San Juan was under attack by the British Royal Navy in April of 1979. They were nearly sieged by the British Crown. However, San Juan was defended by colonial forces as the Fixed Regiment of Puerto Rico. Come out and experience this intriguing slice of history. This is one of the coolest things to do on the island.
